The shows have been so magical for my four year old daughter and I. We saw Rudolph last weekend and loved the performance. Meeting Santa before the show and writing a letter to Santa added to the experience. Within the last year or so we have also attended Cinderella and The Little Mermaid and walked out so glad that we came. Grateful for these fun memories with my daughter!

I had a great time at this small quaint upscale venue when I went to go see, The Color Purple musical for the third or fourth time around. I saw it multiple/several times at a theater/venue in Maryland. I absolutely loved everything about this masterpiece. I loved how they sang and spoke with southern accents and dialects reflective of that antebellum era of black Americans in the south. The music genre of that era was just in category of its very own. It’s very special, specific, and unique to that time period. They used a lot of violins, pianos, and sounds from their hands and feet as instruments. The musical was infused with African music elements, reflecting the story's setting and themes. There was gospel, jazz, blues, and ragtime. I enjoyed everything about the play and have been a fan of the movie ever since I was a young girl. I’ve also read the book by renowned author, the late and honorable Mrs. Alice Walker. May she RIP. They did not include the endearing “Sister” aka Mrs. Celie’s blues song vocalized by Shug Avery in the movie that most of us who are movie fans, know by heart. They added, “too beautiful for words,” sang by the Shug Avery character in the musical. The color purple musical is an enchanting, soulful, melodic, and harmonic masterpiece. If you liked the movie, you’d definitely like the musical. Go to broadway to see it, or the next time the broadway musical is on tour. I believe they go on tour annually because it’s a damn good production. Love, Light, Peace, Community, Music

Today was my very first visit to Casa Mañana where I chaperoned a school field trip to see Rudolph. The performance was amazing and we all truly enjoyed it! The theater was interesting and the performers were top notch. The issue which led me to give a rating of 3 stars came after the event concluded. The older woman charged with ushering the schools out was extremely rude and refused to allow my group to use the restroom. We politely complied and moved out of the area she was worried was too crowded, but that wasn’t good enough, and she forced us to make our way through a then-empty theater all the way back down to our front row seats. This was all taking place a solid 30 minutes after the show’s conclusion, and literally every other school had exited the theater. There was no reason why my group of 8 boys and I couldn’t wait in the empty hall, or anywhere in the empty theater, yet she followed us and forced us to walk all the way back down. I am a professional and always handle myself as such, and I expect to receive that same professionalism and respect in return. The group of young men I was tasked with chaperoning were baffled as to why we were being treated in such a way, which I had to explain to them. When the performance first concluded I looked forward to a future visit, but now I personally do not want to return to Casa Mañana after being treated so poorly. I understand field trip days are chaotic, but it’s not an excuse to treat a polite paying customer with the levels of condescending disrespect we encountered today.

Went to the Percy Jackson musical and the entire piece, both Acts I & II, were well put together and the cast was phenomenal! Bought the tickets online, printed the ticket and presented the ticket, also presented the phone ticket, at the entrance and was made aware that there was an issue with both tickets. The employee guided me to the Ticket HelpDesk and they sorted me out in less than a minute! Finding my seat was easy as the employees are really knowledgeable about the seat arrangements. Each seat is numbered so you can easily find the number from the gold plaque on the seat’s edge. Would recommend you go to the showing 2 hours in advance to find parking in the Casa Mañana parking lot, if you go an hour ahead of time, you won’t be able to park in the theatre’s parking lot and will have to park right across on the Kimbell Art Museum’s parking lot (free parking.) I would’ve liked for there to be a reminder for people to silence their phones as someone’s phone rang during the show and it lasted for over a minute and there were also people having to go to the restroom so we had to stand up to let them cross to the exit lane. Distracted the entire row. Another thing that occurred was that after the show there was a smell that was very strong and not pleasable, may have been a one time thing. Aside from the concerns, the place was really clean and show was great!

I had memories of visiting when I was in grade school, so I couldn't wait to revisit Casa Mañana as an adult, and it was just as I remembered and more! The ceiling on the inside is still so iconic, and I was very impressed by the amount of leg room. It was crowded, but the line for the bathroom and bar both moved quickly. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the show, and the acoustics were spot on. I can't wait to come back!
