I absolutely adored my piano teacher, Lani! I came to the Chicago School of Music as a very nervous, complete beginner, and over the past two years, she transformed me into a piano player! In our lessons, she was always very punctual, knowledgeable, and personable. I loved the way she structured the lessons, where I would take a “homework assignment” for the week that I would play for her the following week. This held me accountable and kept me on track to learn. It’s so clear to me that Lani loves music and genuinely has a passion for teaching. Not only did I gain the tactical skill of playing piano, but I genuinely felt that my progress mattered to Lani. I would recommend her to anyone trying to learn piano. Learning piano as an adult at Chicago School of Music meant a lot to me and the confidence I gained learning a new skill has bled over into all aspects of my life!

Chicago School of Music has a strict policy with NO exceptions where you must cancel at least 30 days before a month's worth of lessons. I unfortunately had a change in life circumstances and was unable to attend lessons so I canceled 2 days prior to my lessons, and I had to foot the entire bill of $254 for the month. I tried to dispute it with Richard, but he was extremely inflexible and had no compassion towards my situation. I would stay far away from this music school. I've been to others in Chicago and all others are warm and considerate and don't have this policy in place.

We have been registered at the school since our oldest son started taking guitar classes (2006). And now our two younger children are involved in music classes as well. The teachers are professional musicians who almost all perform outside of their teaching role at the school and have a great pedagogical knowledge about teaching. They are accountable for being prepared and on time and expect the same attitude from the student. In addition there are two student concerts each year which challenge the children or adult just enough to perform in front of a group as well as show the individual progress. The Building has a wonderful concert room and gives a modern touch to all the performances. We are grateful of being part of this music school and hope you will have the same impression and opinion.

My daughter loves her violin teacher Ms Julia at the Chicago School of Music, and she is learning a lot. Since we compared them to 3-4 other schools and found the tuition very reasonable, we are very happy and plan to continue at CSoM! :) Craig W

I've been going to the Chicago Center School of Music for guitar lessons for about a year now. Richard Schieler is the head guitar instructor & has improved my guitar playing tremendously. The entire staff is great! I recommend the school to anyone looking to learn or improve any type of musical interest.
