Up until recently, I was under the impression that the voice was an 'instrument' that couldn't be trained - i.e. that it was something you were either born with or not. Then I found Dan Lupo and decided to 'try' a test lesson. It was immediately clear that there was a TON I could learn to dramatically improve my vocal prowess, so I continued. Dan has his own comprehensive curriculum and approach that's thoughtful, systematic and highly personalized to the student. That personalization is a real key with the voice - where folks like me have spent decades learning the wrong habits and/or not learning the right ones. In a short period of time, I'm already seeing dramatic results - and learning techniques that give me more power, control, range and/or texture/style that I never thought possible. His lessons are fun - with a mix of drills, specific lessons and song learning/optimization. Beyond that, he's got a ton of infectious enthusiasm and really cares about his students. As such, I'd recommend him and his crew of teachers whole heartedly.

Can’t recommend Dan enough! He’s a fantastic piano teacher and I'd encourage anyone interested in learning piano (or another instrument) to definitely go to Dan. I really appreciated how he took the time to get to know my skill level, my goals, learning style, etc. and tailored a lesson plan to fit that. I've really enjoyed how he's challenged me and continues to push me to get better and better. The take-home resources he provides are also really helpful and keep me practicing each week, while also making sure I'm practicing the right way. On top of that, he brings a really bright/positive attitude to every session and it's always something I look forward to each week. It's also really cool that he organizes (and encourages participation in) external performances for his students, giving people the chance to showcase their hard work as well as the social aspect of meeting others interested in music. An added bonus is that he's very flexible and generous with scheduling, which makes it easy to keep going back even as life gets in the way.

Dan is an amazing music teacher. In less than three months, he has helped me go from never carrying a tune to performing my first vocal recital with confidence and joy. He understands music and the physiology of voice production, and applies his expert knowledge to adapt to his students’ unique gifts. I am so thrilled to be working with Dan and can’t wait to discover what lies ahead in my musical journey.
