Genesis Jiu Jitsu has been such a welcoming and uplifting place to train. The instructors create a supportive environment where everyone ~ no matter your skill level ~ feels included and encouraged. I’ve grown so much here, both in confidence and in technique. I’m grateful for this gym and the people in it.

I have been going to Genesis Jiu Jitsu in River Oaks since April of 2025. I'm an older woman and enjoy the opportunity to train in both Gi and Nogi. The schedule is varied so I can fit in trainings and and open mats for both types of BJJ. The men are extremely kind and helpful at coed classes as well as open mats. I never feel in jeopardy but get a good workout while feeling safe and respected. I also enjoy the classes with women of various ages. We have fun but get great training. Very supportive for competition training as well as for hobbyists.

I love Genesis so much I train every single day (sometimes twice!) because it's so much fun and the people there are the absolute best! Zero drama. World champion coaches. And it's a terrific way to get a workout that doesn't actually feel like work because you're having so much fun you don't notice. Everyone is positive and no one tries to push you out of your comfort zone, they let you learn at your own pace, and always make sure safety is the number one priority. Can't recommend it enough!!!

Like everyone ever probably I was mildly hesitant to start up without a for sure partner, but the members and coaches welcome you like you’ve been coming forever. Coaching is clear and concise and even starting with no previous martial arts experience after a few days I started to feel more comfortable. 100% recommend trying it if you’ve been waiting, it says it on the door but I wish I had started sooner.

My son has been having a rough time at school so he wanted to try out jujitsu. We decided to sign up for three times a week and he has gone about 5 times so far and he really likes it. All of the coaches are amazing and are very good at explaining everything and taking care of each kid to make sure they have the proper form down. Parking- easy, lots of space, it’s right next to a family dollar and subway. Pricing- very affordable and reasonable Environment- It feels like a family and I am very grateful to have found Genesis!
