So apparently, having a Gold’s Gym membership doesn’t actually mean you can use all Gold’s Gyms. I learned that the hard way when I tried to work out at the Gold’s Gym located at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, right next to the Audie Murphy VA Hospital — and was turned away. Now tell me, what’s the point of paying for a national membership if the brand doesn’t stand by its own name? Veterans, healthcare workers, and students are all over that area, and you’d think a gym built next to a medical center and VA hospital would welcome people trying to stay healthy. Maybe it’s time Gold’s Gym clarified what their “membership” really means — or renamed it Gold’s Gym (some locations only). #VeteranStrong #Accountability #GoldsGym #SanAntonio #FitnessTruth

Professional staff! Matt did a fantastic job describing the gym and associated membership plans. Very knowledgeable and helpful!

Great facility, terrible parking, and so-so staff. Had a few billing questions and spoke to Monica and the tone was dismissive and condescending. Front desk staff should be upheld to higher standards.

I am absolutely thrilled to share my incredible experience at Gold's Gym San Antonio Medical Center! From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted by the manager, Monica, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The staff at Gold's Gym San Antonio Medical Center—especially Lester—are truly the heart of the gym. Every single person I interacted with was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that I had an exceptional experience. From the front desk staff to the personal trainers, everyone was eager to help and offer guidance. The sense of community and camaraderie among the members is palpable, and it's clear that the staff genuinely care about each and every person who walks through the door. But what really sets Gold's Gym San Antonio Medical Center apart is the incredible selection of equipment and facilities. The gym is spacious and well-maintained, with a vast array of cardio machines, free weights, and strength-training equipment. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, there's something for everyone at Gold's Gym. I was particularly impressed with the variety of group fitness classes offered, from yoga and Pilates to spinning and kickboxing. The classes are always well-attended and led by experienced instructors who are passionate about helping you achieve your fitness goals. The layout of the gym is also incredibly well-designed. The equipment is spaced out in a way that makes it easy to move around and find what you need, and the locker rooms are clean and well-appointed. The gym also offers a relaxing atmosphere, with comfortable seating areas and a peaceful ambiance that makes it easy to unwind after a workout. Some people will complain about outdated equipment, but this location is slowly updating the oldest equipment. I have no concerns. This location is unique in that it has a track that connects to the larger jogging trail around the medical center. There are also soccer fields, softball fields, and a tennis court. Although I have never tried it, there is an outdoor swimming pool. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with Gold's Gym San Antonio Medical Center and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a supportive and motivating fitness community. The friendly staff, plentiful equipment, and nice layout make it the perfect place to achieve your fitness goals and feel your best.

For the most part i’ve absolutely loved the gym! The machines are on the simpler side and there’s not too many, but the gym isn’t made for a large capacity of members (at a time) anyways so I don’t feel as though that matters much. It’s never crowded (which is a huge plus) There’s plenty of amenities, like the sauna, pool, sleep rooms, basketball court (for whoever’s into that lol) Everyone for the most part is polite and cordial, and i’ve never ever had a single issue with any of the staff, they’ve always been super polite, friendly, and helpful. The locker rooms/restrooms are also pretty clean, i’ve never felt there was an issue with hygiene or cleanliness outside of a few incidents I observed from members (as people can be), but nothing that can be held against the staff! My singular issue is just the parking, just earlier today I spent 15 minutes waiting, took the long way around and was told I couldn’t stay in UT parking without a permit (even though it was after 3), and waited in front of the Gold’s for another 15-20+ minutes. I gave up and left after a total of maybe 30-45 minutes just trying to get into the gym. Parking is limited with maybe 15-18 spots maxxxxx, and if you’re like me and we don’t like risking a ticket or towing, the other parking area isn’t exactly reliable. It’s been maybe 3/4 times now that i’ve waited over 20 minutes for a spot, and after that I ended up just giving up and going home after wasting all that gas waiting. all in all: - staff support is 100% great, never had an issue. - cleanliness/hygiene from the professional end of Gold’s Gym is also like 100% - even 98% of the fellow members are super considerate, clean, and polite. only observed a couple of incidents that made me question humanity lol. but that’s just people people-ing anyway. the only issue is really just the parking. for paying like $50/55 or whatever a month, it’s definitely the only thing that makes me think twice. not sure if there’s just people who aren’t gym-goers parked there, or if it’s really just not a super functional space, but there has to be some like actual, official, physical permit or something 😭 just to make sure everyone who’s there is supposed to be, and to properly give access to the “other” parking without concern. and additionally, I do wish there were extended hours. It’s not a complaint, and obviously I understand that people want to go home, but it would be nice 😭 I work 9am-10.30pm 4-5 days a week so it does definitely cut into my gym availability. So when in my only available times I can’t get in due to parking it can be suuuuper frustrating.
