Green Acres was great. The day we went was a very sad day for us and they were kind and understanding. They treated us and our fur-baby with patience and warmth. I would highly recommend them.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! I couldnt get into my Vet's office and their Emergency Dept was on a long wait, so I brought my dog here for an Urgent Care visit. He was having a flare up from Inflammatory Bowel Disease. The staff were very nice, and upon examination the Doctor noticed that my dog had a Urethral Prolapse. He said that it typically requires surgery. He further examined him and said that he felt a mass about the size of a grapefruit in his pelvic/lower abdominal region. I asked "Where do we begin?". They came back with an INSANE treatment plan including Xrays, catheterization, blood work and such...just shy of $2500. I asked again "WHERE DO WE BEGIN?". I was told..."This is the treatment plan." Even I was overwhelmed, and I AM A NURSE. They wouldn't even give me a starting point. A simple "Let's see if we can get a urine sample and take some X Rays" would have been an appropriate answer....a STARTING POINT. I didnt know where to begin because they wouldnt tell me, and I expressed concern that my dog is 8 yrs old. The Dr asked " Did you want to discuss Euthanasia?". WHAT??? I declined treatment and drove across town to my own Vet's office, paid the Emergency fee, and decided to wait it out. They got me in quickly. Well...my dog peed naturally, NO MASS ON EXAMINATION, Xrays were done to rule out a possible kidney stone and revealed nothing abnormal. His Urethral Prolapse is tiny and inserting a catheter could have made it worse! I left with meds for his stomach and a follow up appt with my Vet to discuss his Urethral Prolapse, which doesn't always require surgery. It cost me 1/3 of what Green Acres had quoted me for all their unnecessary treatment; the XRays alone were quoted at $813 with a $499 set up fee. WHAT??? I am disgusted to say the least!!! This place is an incompetent and predatory money machine and should be shut down!

This was an extremely difficult and upsetting experience. A young family I know brought their puppy here and, during a very emotional time, agreed to extensive treatment options that resulted in a bill close to $10,000. Sadly, the puppy did not survive. After the payment was processed, they were asked at the front desk to confirm the last four digits of their card again to verify the transaction. While this may be routine, it felt unnecessary and added to the distress of the situation. In hindsight, they felt they did not have a clear understanding of how severe the puppy’s condition was or the likelihood of a poor outcome when these costly decisions were being made. Situations like this require not only medical care, but clear, compassionate communication so families can make truly informed choices. I strongly encourage others to ask detailed questions about prognosis, expected outcomes, and all available options including seeking a second opinion before proceeding with major and expensive treatments. This experience was heartbreaking, and I hope it helps others approach similar situations with greater clarity and awareness. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES!
