I've been to Philly a few times and this bookstore has become a staple of my visits. The selection is really well curated and displayed, with great staff picks and recommendations. The staff is always super nice and personable. On my most recent trip, I actually forgot the books I purchased in the store and called when I got home and realized it. They were incredibly helpful and allowed me to have them shipped which reaffirms that I'll always stop in and support when I'm in town. Highly recommend!!

The first stop on my Philly bookstore spree. You got to love a city where you can walk to half a dozen bookstores in one area. As such I started on this end of South Street before making my way down the other end. They sell new books and had several current titles from my list. It is mostly fiction but I found my non fiction/history shelf. I knew it was going to be a long day of shopping so I only bought one. Fitting it was Questlove's book.

Head House Books in Philly is a true treasure for book lovers! 📚 this indie bookstore is a cozy escape for anyone who loves the feel of a well-curated, locally owned shop. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with both bestsellers and hidden gems — all picked with care. 🌟 The staff at Head House Books are absolute book enthusiasts! They’re always ready with great recommendations, and it’s clear they know their stuff. I’ve walked out with books I never would have found on my own, thanks to their awesome suggestions. They’re as passionate about books as they are about the neighborhood, making it feel like a community gathering place rather than just a store. 😊 The selection is impressive, with everything from literary fiction and nonfiction to gorgeous coffee-table books. I recently picked up Circe by Madeline Miller and a fascinating design book on mid-century interiors — they truly have something for everyone! And if they don’t have a book in stock, they’re more than happy to order it for you. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick browse or looking to get lost for hours, Head House Books is the perfect spot. Grab a coffee from a nearby cafe, and settle in to explore. It’s one of those places that makes Philly feel special, and I can’t recommend it enough! ✨

Great neighborhood bookstore with a fun, thoughtfully curated selection of books for a wide variety of reading tastes. I appreciated the staff book suggestions on display, and was impressed with the quality of books on hand for children, teens and adults. They do a lovely job of giftwrapping books for you, and there are comfortable spaces to hang out. The store also has a nice selection of gifts.
