My husband and I went in Homewise Appliance in San Jose on 12/18/2025 and looked for a downdraft hood replacement. We were helped by Don Little and scheduled a pre-site inspection before placing order for the hood. The pre-site inspection crew came 12/22/2025 to inspect and we are told they will forward the inspection to Homewise Appliance. My husband emailed Don the next day (12/23/2025) and asked him to proceed with a quote so we could place a special order for a Thermador Downdraft hood. He also texted Don and then he replied on 12/27/2025 that he needs to add $499 for the downdraft installation. After sending several emails and texts, we heard nothing from Don. On 1/16/2026, we went back to the store since could not get hold of Don over email or text. He was there, apologized and said he was about to email us. He explained that he had something going on which he would not even get into it. We did not complain anything to him and asked him to process our order. We finally placed our order for the downdraft and all the parts needed. After that, my husband would email Don on a weekly basis to get an update on the ETA of the downdraft and the parts. On 2/17/2026, my husband received an automated email on the status of all the parts and it seems that all the parts have been delivered. He emailed Don again to schedule a time for installation. On 2/19/2026, my husband received a phone call from the installation contractor and was told that they would come and install the downdraft the next day. Guess what, we were never given a 4 hour window and no one came to install the downdraft the next day. Emailed Don again and the answer we got is that “the warehouse created a problem in the system that they are trying to fix. Without going through all the details I had to deal with the system thinks that everything came in but there is no physical product.” Two months has passed. Still no downdraft hood. As of 3/17/2026, still waiting for parts. We emailed Don was told once again still waiting for a part to arrive at the warehouse and won’t arrive till 3/26. Emailed on 3/27 to confirm the receiving of the part and got a reply on 3/28 saying their warehouse system has a problem and that the down draft is not in. I can’t believe this is the customer service Homewise provides. It should not have taken this long to receive all the parts. They should not let the customer take the consequence of their warehouse’s issue/problem. They have taken our money in January and yet we have not have our hood installed at the end of March.

We had a terrible experience with Homewise Appliance after their contractors caused electrical issues in our home - and they then refused to reimburse us or even apologize when we had to call out an emergency handyman to resolve the issue. We ordered a dishwasher from Homewise Appliance in Jan 2026 through their website. They got back to us quickly and the first installer team came out within the week. After that first install, we noticed that the dishwasher and our microwave kept shutting off. It was clear that the dishwasher was downstream (electrically-speaking) from the microwave, which wasn't necessarily the installer's fault, but it did mean the we couldn't use the dishwasher. Just to confirm it wasn't an installation issue, we called Homewise to have their contractor come out again. The second installer came out and while they were checking on the original issue of the electricity shutting off to the dishwasher and microwave, they messed with our fuse box and shut off electricity to multiple rooms and hallway in our house. (We only realized this after they left, when we tried to turn the lights on at night). Another team cam out the next day to try and fix this additional damage caused. They couldn't figure out what had happened and told us that it was not their fault - they said "likely you have rodents chewing on our electrical wires" (what?). This made no sense. We had a full home inspection done only months before and there were no issues flagged with the electrical system. We ended up having to pay $350 for an emergency handyman to come out that night and fix the additional electricity issues. He confirmed that the second installer had shut off a whole row of fuse box switches during their visit. Coordinating all of these contractor visits took a huge amount of time and caused us a huge amount of stress in addition to having no electricity in most of our house for a day. We went back and forth for weeks with the ecommerce team and even visited the San Jose store twice to request reimbursement of the handyman fee of $350. Tldr, they flat turned us down even though we have documentation from the handyman, ghosted us, and never even offered an apology. We have never received such poor service from any store and will certainly never shop here again.

Good selection... Better sales rep... but the delivery of the product was mishandled... Very expensive hood was delivered with a defect. Store pointed the finger at the manufacturer and they pointed the finger back at the reseller... in the end the defective product is in my kitchen after spending thousands on just one appliance.
