Incredible gym that was very welcoming to me while visiting from out of town. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to learn gi or nogi jiujitsu. Jacob the owner was very knowledgeable and held a great class. Excited to come back in the future.

I’ll be honest and say that I was nervous about joining a martial arts school. One, because I didn’t want to get hurt, and two, because I know I’m not as young/fast as I once was. Since day one the coaches at HOJ have made me feel welcomed and are genuinely nice, out going people. They answer questions, give feedback, and are passionate about the sport. I feel safe and comfortable with their level of experience, that I am able to trust them and their coaching styles. Every class has been a blast! Thank you to Professor Jacob and all the coaches for accepting me and making this experience, fun. Word of advice: Come in with an open mind that’s willing to learn, expect to get a little hurt because it is a combat sport/martial art, don’t get discouraged for failing, and show up.

I was in town for work and dropped in twice for the 6am class. Was able to roll both in Gi and No-Gi and had a great time. Awesome crew, very welcoming and great atmosphere. HOJ also has one of the coolest Gi’s I’ve seen, my only regret they didn’t have in my size. Looking forward to visiting the gym on my next trip to San Antonio.

This is my gym and I'm blessed to have Jacob Landin as a chief coach and a professor of martial arts. He's definitely a talented martial arts trainer who keeps every session fresh and challenging with creative, innovative workouts — motivating but still without being pushy or overbearing. Highly recommend for anyone who values skill, variety, and genuine encouragement.

I was just here for a drop in training session in the middle of February and was blown away at how professional and friendly the culture of this gym was. The instructors were top notch and the clientele was friendly and helpful. Its been a few weeks and I unfortunately don't remember any names but will definitely be looking to see the same faces I interacted with when I get a chance to come back and drop in again for another training session. If you're some kind of professional staying down town for an event at the convention center or even just staying near the downtown vicinity I highly recommend dropping in and rolling with the good people here. It was a great experience and I took back a few new tricks to use in my home gym. Definitely worth the drop in fee! Thank you HOJ for showing me a great time! Ill see you again in July!
