Sharon and I tried La Boulangerie last weekend for breakfast. The atmosphere was Parisian bakery/deli. I had the bacon, egg and cheese croissant. It was delicious. The croissant was flaky and fluffy, perfect. The scrambled eggs were light and fluffy as well. Sharon had the Complete Crepe. Ham and cheese with a sunny side egg on top. They have a nice selection of fresh breads and pastries. We highly recommend this local gem.

I ordered the veggie quiche of the week for takeout/ There were no vegetables in the filling. It was mostly tasteless, with only a hint of blue cheese. The egg custard was also undercooked and watery. The “mixed greens” on the side were mostly rotten and yellowish and not edible. The walnut croissant dough was okay, but it was rolled too thin, lacked layers, and came out flat. The chocolate filling had only two large walnut pieces—they should have been finely chopped and distributed evenly in the filing. It’s expensive (though that’s typical for the area), but I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to visit.

Ok, second time in, and it continues to bring me back to Europe. The staffs hospitality, friendly welcome... I know a big name bakery opened up around the corner on Houston. For us it's good but screens tourists. La Baoulangerie is small, cozy, and a European feel. Then the food, come on now! You taste the homemade love. Yes, I will take a baked fresh, with French flour Baguette to go please! Downtown residence, if you haven't gone your missing out (from a guy who lives in Europe 3-4 months out of the year) Tourist... You will thank me later
