I’ve been to La Reunion multiple times and it’s always been a staple in Bishop Arts for me. Great space, solid drinks (overpriced, but still), and typically a reliable place to sit down and get some work done. This visit was a different experience. I came in, ordered a drink ($20 after tip), and sat at the bar to work like I’ve done before. Shortly after, I was told the bar would be off limits due to a staff NA training and was given about a 15-minute heads up. I moved to another table, but then was told that entire half of the cafe was also being reserved for the training. Monday evening, and there were no accessible outlets anywhere else. Every plug was tied to the area they had closed off. It was 84 degrees outside, and the remaining indoor seating was extremely limited and already full. I fully understand and respect investing in staff education, that’s a good thing. But taking over the most desirable and heavily used guest space during operating hours, and leaving guests to work around it, feels like a miss. At a certain point, if guests are having to adjust around internal operations, something is off. Hospitality should feel like the space is built for the guest, not the other way around. Just something to be aware of if you’re planning to come here to work or stay for a while. It seems like this training happens regularly and can significantly impact seating and usability of the space.

This place is a whole vibe 👏🏽 Food: The B.E.C. sandwich is to die for—perfect crunch with every bite and so flavorful it had me sitting there like “wow” after the first bite. Seriously mouthwatering. Ambiance: Whether you’re trying to get some work done, study, or just people-watch (my personal favorite lol), this spot delivers. Full bar, comfy booths, tables, indoor and outdoor seating, and a steady flow of background music that just sets the tone right. Service: Friendly, welcoming, and actually knows the menu—which we love. You can tell they care about the experience. Overall: 10/10, highly recommend. This is one of those places you’ll keep coming back to without even thinking about it.
