Visiting the Museum of Illusions in the Gaslamp Quarter was an absolutely incredible experience and one of the most fun and engaging activities we did while in downtown San Diego. This is definitely a great activity to add to your itinerary if you’re visiting the Gaslamp area—fun for all ages and perfect whether you’re with friends, family, or even on a date. From the moment we walked in, everything was extremely well thought out and beautifully put together. Each exhibit was interactive, creative, and genuinely mind-bending. You can tell a lot of effort went into designing the illusions and making the experience both educational and entertaining. A huge shoutout to Anderson, Malik, and John Marco—they truly made the visit even more memorable. All three were friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic, but John Marco especially stood out. He was amazing at explaining how the illusions worked, guiding us through the exhibits, and making sure everyone was engaged and having fun. His explanations added so much value and made the experience even more fascinating. Overall, this was a fantastic experience from start to finish. If you’re looking for something unique, interactive, and fun to do in Gaslamp, the Museum of Illusions is an absolute must. We’ll definitely be recommending it to friends and visiting again!

Took the family here on Black Friday because we were in the neighborhood to visit the Lafayette hotel. Didn’t disappoint. It’s not huge but there plenty of awesome displays and most of them worthy of taking pics to view later. Kids loved this place. We spent about 120 for 5 of us, which is about average for this type of venue. Staff very pleasant and helped us enjoy the displays and take pics for us. Definitely recommend!

This place is cute and so cool! We had the pleasure of having Malik as our tour guide and he was amazing! You can tell he absolutely knows what he’s doing and loves doing it! He was so informative, helpful, and bonus very lovey to look at! Illusion Expert Gianmarco was also so kind and very helpful as well as staff members Jairo, Alan, and Nathan! All super friendly and helpful people who really made the place a welcoming and fun environment! I thank them again! All in all this place is awesome with good vibes and great people. A fantastic place to bring friends, family, the kids, a date, to stay dry or to cool off, and most importantly have fun!!! I will be coming back with more friends and family very soon!

This was a great and fun experience!!! The wow factor continued to happen over and over. If you’re willing to play, the fun will appear!! Shout out to Violet. Kindness and a great smile made us feel welcomed. Kaley was AMAZING! She gave us great ideas for pictures and even took one with us. And her Spanish was not an illusion, it was perfect. Gonna bring our Spanish speaking father next week! Thank you all for a great experience!

Our group of 4 went midday on a Sunday. It was busy, but not crowded. The staff was friendly and helpful in the exhibits with photo tips. Great photo ops!! A little pricey, but we had a fun experience. I liked that we could take our time inside and didn't have a timed session.
