Karen Alwin is hands down the BEST trainer of young ballet students I have ever seen. I know because I trained with her for 14 years, and I have also taught and trained at schools throughout the country. She teaches young dancers CORRECTLY, making them knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and disciplined. Unless you are in the ballet world, it is hard to fully grasp how vital these qualities are in a serious, classically trained ballet dancer and how rare it is these days to find dancers that have mastered them. This is the gift that Karen Alwin gives her dancers. She is a loving maternal figure, but she demands a dancer's very best. In this day and age of rewarding people for "just showing up," it is nice to know that there are still instructors like Ms. Karen out there carrying on the tradition of technique, etiquette, and discipline that makes ballet the incredibly unique art form that it is.
