We recently attended a performance of Black Swan at the Opera San Jose and were thoroughly impressed. This was a first time for me to experience an opera. I had no idea that it would be 3 and a half hours. But I enjoyed it and was happy I went. Make sure you read the info before it starts so you have a better understanding of what you're watching and listening to and don't have to read all the subtitles. You will enjoy it more. Carmen had some wonderfully talented people performing. Also be careful of seating in the California theater balcony as their railing is in the way if you are shorter and sit on the aisles. It will obstruct your view, poor design.
