Philomena is a neighborhood gem with excellent pizza, a great beer selection and a friendly and efficient staff. We've had pizza here many times and finally came in for brunch - if you haven't tried it you need to, it was fantastic! We got the America breakfast pizza, which was loaded with ham, mozzarella and bacon crumbles, the thick, custardy Cinnamon Swirl Challa French Toast that came with the most delicious blackberry lemon compote and whipped cream, and a huge side of crunchy on the outside soft on the inside Breakfast Potatoes with peppers and onions. Everything was absolutely delicious and our server was a sweetheart. Can't wait to come back for brunch as well as the pizza!

I’m a bit confused. At one point in time I felt like Philomena was easily the best pizza in the bay, and from the photos in others reviews it looks like things haven’t changed, hence my confusion when my order arrives and it is soggy, oily, bready, and the ingredients taste cheep. Do your toast deliveries come from a different kitchen? If so, the quality isn’t up to what I’ve come to expect. For now sadly, you’ve been taken off my 100% confidence endorsement food list.

My favorite pizza place in Oakland! Delicious pizza and the buffalo wings are so good! I’ve also had the tator tots. They have a great menu and the portions are big enough to share. Everything is clean and the staff is very friendly. This is also a great place to just go grab a beer after work.

So my friend and I stumbled into this little neighborhood pizza spot, and honestly? I’m still thinking about that mushroom pizza. Like… how dare it be that good? Perfectly crispy crust, melty, earthy, cheesy goodness — basically a spiritual experience in pizza form. But the real MVP? Our waiter. This woman was a dream. She let us taste-test a bunch of drinks (because clearly we’re indecisive and she just got it) and helped us land on the perfect choices. We also ended up bonding over our pets because of course we did — she was so sweet, funny, and just one of those people who makes you feel like you’ve known them forever. Between the pizza, the vibe, and the A+ human interaction, this spot is officially my go-to. Already scheming about who I can drag here next. Highly recommend — don’t sleep on it.

We’ve lived in the neighborhood for over a year and I can’t believe we hadn’t visited here sooner! Before moving to Oakland, the wife, cats, and I lived in Chicago - where there is all sorts of good pizza, not just deep dish. Anyway, Philomena is up to par and has delicious pies, as well as beer and kombucha on tap. For this visit, we got the Miss Piggy with gluten free crust, which was great! We also had the kombucha (mint guava) which is delicious, and their wings which I would recommend. The chicken isn’t over fried or battered - just good chicken with good sauce. Looking forward to coming back!
