Absolutely unacceptable. We showed up today only to find the boathouse closed with no update online or on the message when you call the boathouse, no communication whatsoever. Your website clearly stated you would be open, and even gave reasons for limited closures that do not apply to today. Yet you were still closed without explanation. This kind of incompetence and unprofessionalism is inexcusable. People take time out of their day, spend gas money, and plan trips around what businesses say are their hours. To close the doors with no notice is lazy and shows zero regard for customers. A wasted trip, wasted time, and a complete disregard for basic professionalism. Do better and quit being lazy. I can see from other reviews I’m not the only one to have the same laziness and incompetence from the boathouse employees.

We drove a whole HOUR to get to the boathouse. Arrived around 6:30pm, which was good because the boathouse was supposed to close at 8pm. To our shock, they had a "sorry, we're closed" sign on the glass. We kept looking but no workers were inside. I called and no one answered. The second time I called the number, someone answered and said they probably closed because of the weather and the wind. It was NOT even windy. They really need to let people know if they are going to close early. How hard is it to update the public on their Facebook or something?? It was supposed to be a fun family outing but it turned out to be a waste of gas and money. If you bring your family to Scissortail park expecting boats, you'll be in for a big disappointment. Scissortail park? More like ScissorFAIL park.

The boathouse is a nice place to chill, with seats and tables. Their menu is varied, and there's something for everybody. The neat thing about this place, at the time of writing this review, is that there's a corner dedicated for caterpillars to go through metamorphosis in peace; not only that, there are signs teaching the kids about the process of metamorphosis. I managed to catch a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis in action, but the process is of course a long one.
