Plants are generally healthy/good quality and they have a good selection of California natives. But I find a lot of their offerings to be overpriced and up-potted to a larger than necessary pot to increase the price - this small kalanchoe should have been in a 6" pot for less than half this price and I definitely did not purchase a small butterfly bush for $60(!!)

The colors and arrangements flowers are welcoming; staff is helpful and witty ; a friend of mine bought me matching plants here ; prices are reasonable. And then we went for Burmese food.

Flowers, plants, trees and all the accoutrements that are related to gardening are here. If you have a garden, thanks for doing your part in creating oases of calm for birds and other small creatures who venture forth in this urban landscape. If you don't have a garden, you can adopt plants and/or build a planting box. Sloat Garden Center is the place to go for the current assortment of foliage. Need a question answered? Many of the staff are knowledgeable about growing greenery. They also have recommendations on how to care or resuscitate your plants. I enjoy strolling about the center, creating visual tableaus of what my garden would look like from the choices. Get yourself to Sloat and you'll get a natural pickup.

I love plants so I stopped by on a sunny Sunday afternoon to look around and visit our friend Sasha. They have a nice variety in such a small area from small trees ro succulents, orchids, airplants, pots, etc. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. You didn't need to wear a mask outdoors but nowadays it is more friendly to wear one. Finding parking is tricky, so good luck! It's a neighborhood treasure.

A nice neighborhood garden center for any sized garden. Wander through the aisles to see their selection of perennials and annuals. For cacti enthusiasts you may see some hybrid varieties. If you don’t have time to put together a planter you can find some designed options that could be a great housewarming gift.
