I recently went to the Specs off Jones Maltsberger. This store is no comparison to the one on DeZavala. The young guy who was obviously new was clueless about various sizes and when he flagged someone down they told him they could not help me because they were already helping two customers. I finally located the "stocking stuffer" sizes I wanted and the young girl behind the counter asked me to identify what size I wanted. When I stepped to see the two sizes she snapped at me "Don't cross the tape line!" She was obviously untrained and uneducated. I know it is Christmas time and a store has to hire who they can get but I will never return there again. Total Wine is very customer friendly.

I have been a regular at this location, but my recent experience was unacceptable. I purchased a tequila I’ve bought many times before, but the top broke off after only one use. When I returned with my receipt (within the 30-day policy), Aldo falsely told me it was “against Texas law” to accept returns. That is not true — Spec’s policy allows returns with a receipt, and Texas law does not prohibit this. He was dismissive, rude, and confrontational. He accused me of having already consumed the bottle, mishandled the product unsanitarily, tossed my items back at me, and even tried to misrepresent himself as the manager. I’ve never encountered such disrespect at this store before. I will be contacting corporate about this, because no customer should be treated this way.

Spec’s is a difficult store to shop as items are not placed in “usual” places like a lot of other liquor stores. For example, triple sec is in the whiskey aisle; juice is placed through the store next to the various liquors; there is no organization to their wine department etc. Shopping there is a challenge to say the least. They also serve restaurants so there are a lot of items that are out of stock on a frequent basis. They also don’t restock often enough. Their staff is somewhat rude and unhelpful. One would wonder why I am giving this store five stars. It is because of “STONE” one of their security guards. Stone is an amazing woman who actually helps me every time I encounter her. This is NOT her job and she is more helpful than the actual staff. Her happy energy is contagious. I actually asked her how she can be so happy and she replied “I love my job!” Spec’s you have a gem on your hands. Your staff could learn from her. Thank you Stone!
