Finding a gym that caters to an entire family’s needs is rare, but CAA has mastered it. We’ve been training here for years, and it’s become a cornerstone of our family routine—we even plan our vacations around being back in time to train together on Sundays! My 7-year-old thrives in the Level 2 program. The coaches—Ryan in particular—strike the perfect balance between high-level competition prep and ensuring the kids stay engaged without burning out. Meanwhile, the Level 1 coaches are incredibly patient and supportive with my 4-year-old, making it a great entry point for younger kids. As for the adults, the Women’s Jiu-Jitsu class on Sundays has evolved into a dedicated self-defense session led by the head coach, Sonia. Having taken numerous self-defense classes from so-called "experts" in the past, I can say this is the only series I’ve found to be truly helpful or practical. It proves why Jiu-Jitsu is such a superior foundation for self-defense; the skills are applicable and realistic. My husband also loves the training and consistently gets a fantastic workout. The atmosphere at CAA is welcoming to everyone. It is truly unheard of to find a place that fits all of us so well. Highly recommended!

Combat Arts Academy has been AMAZING for our two daughters (3.5 and 6). The owner and instructors provide a wonderful environment to help challenge and encourage their students through each class. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

I really liked the structured approach, they have a separate level for beginners so you all your fundamentals are down and only then move to level 2 for rolling and learning some advance moves. Everyone was very friendly and make you feel welcomed. Will be missing "1, 2, 3 CAA"

I trained at Combat Room (along with my 2 kids) while on a 6 month sabbatical in Wellington. Overall, it was an amazing experience for all of us. The environment is welcoming and friendly. Prof Vanderson is a top-notch instructor who has built an awesome community and culture. The facility is immaculate and I loved easy access to the strength training area. The kids classes and instructors are also excellent. I wish we could have stayed longer!
