The folks at Iris really put in the time to match me with the right glasses. I’ve come in like 20 minutes before closing and they spent every second finding the right pair for me, no complaints. The selection of frames is great and stylish - with lots of independent brands that each have their own stories. Great place to support locally!

this is my favorite optometry and eyeglass shop in oakland. ive been coming here since 2019 and have always had a great experience. the optometrist, dr. lia pastorino, is incredible. first, the eye appointments are more spacious and longer than other places. dr. lia spent time explaining her findings, addressing my concerns of difficulty while driving at night, dry eye and eye fatigue (which the ophthalmologist had dismissed). she is such a compassionate eye doctor. iris takes vsp insurance, which is great! i did pay $39 extra for a digital retinal exam so that they didnt need to dilate my eyes, which was so worth it. afterwards, the staff helped me pick out amazing eyewear. they're incredibly talented at their job and you can tell they love helping folx pick out new frames. i love this store and highly recommend the frames, staff and optometrist!

We went to Iris Optometry when our daughter needed her eyes thoroughly examined and required an appointment quickly. The team at Iris Optometry—Dr. Hernandez, Kristina, and Lisette—truly went above and beyond. They made our daughter feel comfortable despite her discomfort and expertly identified the underlying causes. They also helped her choose a pair of cute glasses that were ready in less than a week. We are so grateful for the team's expertise and kindness in finding a solution for our daughter.

I've been going to Iris for years now and have bought many fantastic glasses from them. Their exams are comprehensive and never feel rushed. Plus they are a breeze to schedule with (hard to say for many places!) But more importantly their selection of frames is top notch. Plenty of unique, handmade, well-designed options you won't find elsewhere. Plus, they work with a high quality lab (which is now covered by insurance thanks to their lobbying!) with lenses which offer great longevity. And on top of it all they're a small business that keeps Piedmont local. Cannot recommend highly enough.
