Hank went above and beyond for me! I had visited this store many years ago on vacation and had purchased some loteria tiles. I was having a hard time finding the same size and quality as what I had purchased at this store years before. So, I sent an email asking if they still sold them (I live halfway across the country). To my delight, Hank offered to help me procure them from the artist and shipped them to me. I couldn't be happier!

BVOCAL4LOCAL(c) Love. Love. LOVE this place. Hank is so helpful and informative. Full disclosure, I hadn't been back to the Blue Star in some time. My friend suggested it and I was excited to visit wonderful memories. As we're coming around a corner, I was so excited to see this place was still there. I remembered going to the Blue Star when they first started first Fridays back in the 80s. This was my favorite place then. This is my favorite place now. I love folk art with a passion. There are a multitude of items, art really, from Mexico and several other Latin American countries. You will also find multiple items from local artists. I love seeing local supporting local. The guayabera shirts are incredible. Great vintage cuts and funky patterns. These are not your abuelos guayaberas! Please ask Hank about this project with the shirts. It's incredible. Another case of helping others. I went back and forth around this place at least three times and I'm sure I still haven't seen everything. Small or large- There are so many things that you will want. Fun/ funky things. Art pieces. Statues paintings. Jewelry. The list goes on and on. Make this a place to bring your out of town guests. Make this a place to shop for your friends, your family, yourself!

Love, love, LOVE! Wandered into this place while visiting from Dallas and I’m so glad we did. Everything in the shop was beautiful and I could have bought it all. Hank, the owner is absolutely wonderful, we loved him immediately. We spent a while chatting and he gave us some great recommendations for the area, and after we left we ran into him while he was walking his dog on the riverwalk and chatted some more. Can’t recommend him or this shop enough. If you’re looking for some original art, look no further.

Such a cool shop! Did not expect to find such a cool vintage shirt from Haiti. Want to go back when they get more of their shirts made from vintage kimonos. The man working there was beyond helpful.
