The employees here are so kind and helpful. I bought a guitar setup for my son and I couldn’t be happier. They were very straightforward, no BS, no pressure, and eager to help this oldish woman with a probably less than interesting request. Highly recommend.

Incredibly well rounded shop that offers a ton more options than one would expect from its size. Staff is always extremely helpful and goes way above and beyond what most instrument shops do. They especially don’t try to sell you anything you don’t need. I’ve heard them advising beginners and anyways giving sound advice. Prices are more than fair. Instrument set-up and repair is above average and way faster than other shops in the east bay. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

This place is GREAT ! Over the years I’ve wandered in to tinker with one of the many quality new and used guitars they have on hand, but where they REALLY shine is in the repair arena. They do meticulous high calibre repairs and mods and usually in record time. So far they’ve done quite a few jobs for me from swapping in new pickups to installing a preamp, and on one 12 string they got it PLEKED and that guitar now plays as new- no buzz no dead spots, just lush jangle and ringing strings :-) I highly recommend Mountain Music to hobbiests, beginners, pros- ANYONE who appreciates a laid back family atmosphere backed up by top notch skilled techs

Really cool little place up on Piedmont Ave. Great selection of acoustic and electric guitars. Very helpful and friendly staff. Only bought some strings but they were very eager to answer questions and were knowledgeable and super friendly.
