I feel lucky to have found Dr Miller when I was having new back pain from arthritis and repetitive motion injury. I am a middle aged athlete and he gave me great confidence from the first meeting that I could get back to my regular activities. Not only did I feel better with each session but he gave me practical tips and home exercises to help regain strength and mobility I had lost while in pain. He is a very intuitive clinician and I always felt like he was doing his best for me. I am so grateful to report I am pain free and stronger than I’ve been in years!

Look, most PTs suck! I just finished my 3rd round of physical therapy for patellar tendonitis with Colin Miller, and I'm finally better. I've wasted months with bad PTs and i can't encourage you enough to get an assessment and work with Colin! He is super knowledgeable, and more importantly willing to investigate, test alternatives, be challenged, and pivot away from what isn't working. He will work with you based on what you can do, give you honest feedback, and not just hand you off to another therapist, but actually do targeted bodywork along with developing a custom regiment of therapy (on a schedule of check-ins/sessions you can afford). If you aren't healing, dump your current PT and don't look back. If you haven't gone to a PT yet, don't waste your time with a crappy one that takes your insurance, go get an assessment with Colin. You won't regret it.

In October 2024 I was suffering left knee and thigh pain so severe that I could hardly walk. My orthopedist diagnosed it as “I-T Band Tendonitis” and recommended physical therapy, but none of the therapists in my medical group were available for two months. That’s when my daughter and I found Dr. Colin Miller, Ph.D., who made time to get me in within a week. Dr. Miller was very familiar with I-T Band Tendonitis and treated my leg with deep massage and stretching of the hamstring muscles during one-hour sessions. After eight weekly sessions, I was completely cured and walking without pain or stiffness. Affable and committed to the patient’s well-being, Dr. Miller is a gift to our Berkeley/Oakland medical community. A five-star physical therapist. -Chuck Farnsworth, Berkeley.

Dr. Colin is an incredible, talented and knowledgeable physical therapist. My husband and I have been working with him for 18 months and he has helped us through various areas of pain and weakness. For example, I woke up this past Sunday morning with pain and immobility on my right shoulder. I tried massage Monday morning and that helped during the day but the pain and immobility resumed Monday night. I saw Dr Colin Tuesday afternoon and it made a world of difference. I am pain free and physically feel lighter. I have full mobility back. He did this through adjustments, tissue work and mobilization. I truly believe that preventative care with Dr. Colin has helped prevent many injuries. Dr. Colin is very kind, genuine and caring. Thank you Dr. Colin for all you do to keep me healthy and active in my martial arts and strength training!

I am an active 66 y.o. woman and I have probably worked with 6-8 PT's over the past 15 years; Colin Miller is, hands down, the most effective PT I've worked with. Not to mention the fact that he is just a truly lovely human being. Both Colin's professional expertise and his chosen way of practicing make him exceptionally effective. Colin's sessions with me are a full hour in which he does primarily hands-on work, such as massage and cupping, instead of just watching me do the exercises I already do at home. Because he controls his own schedule, he is not juggling 3-4 patients an hour, which appears to be common in many PT clinics these days. Colin is also great at explaining underlying physiological issues in a way that is straightforward and helpful, and not in the least bit condescending or jargon filled (unlike many other health professionals I've worked with). My only hesitation in heartily and gratefully recommending Colin is my fear that he'll get too busy to see me in the future!!!

I was in serious pain from a fall while hiking. I had a Bakers cyst that would not quit and a variety of other issues. I had been to a sports orthopedist and been sent for the standard issue, insurance covered PT. It was ok and I improved for a while, but then I got much worse again. I needed a new, better solution. I was lucky that a trusted friend had referred Colin Miller. He would not be covered by my insurance, but I really needed to find a solution. From my first visit I could tell Colin would deliver a whole other level of care. His experience, knowledge, tools, and hands on approach were better in every way from any PT I had had before. He takes the time to address every issue and explain how they are related to each other. He’s helped me to build back my strength and my pain is almost totally gone. If you’re injured and serious about a long-term fix, Colin Miller is the best.
