I've been a member since July of 2025 and mostly held back on reviewing until I get a good feel for this gym. Roughly 8 months later, my opinion hasn't changed so I'll review it here: 5/5 stars While it is a smaller gym than many, it is never too crowded. People actually wipe their equipment, the gym is very clean, and it is 24 hours so you're never in a rush to get a workout in. I don't interact with the staff much, but I can confidently assume they're top notch trainers, custodians, etc. It's a locked entry where only members can enter too if that gives the reader any confidence. And given the tense social environment we're all in, I also thought I should include this: I originally signed up for this gym in July over other nearby gyms because I recently moved to this wonderful city and looking for a personal safe space that's also a gym. I read a 1 star review from a transphobe and not only did I have a chuckle at the owner's fantastic reply, they screamed to all who read it "You are safe here, happy workout!". Being LGBTQ+ (and a visible ethnic minority), knowing that the person who runs this gym had that much care for peoples who made up this city, to the point of defending their staff and members, tells me the quality of the gym will be high. And it is, and I've never ran into any problems since my first leg day. My biggest regret is not being close enough to a brown line stop so I can make my way here with more ease

Love this gym! I’m actually so glad I was able to find a gym that’s close to where I live and is open 24/7! It’s hard to find that nowadays! There’s a bunch of attachments and barbells, I can easily do my compound movements and all! For a small gym, it definitely holds a lot!

I was a member of this gym for a little under a year and had an overall positive experience! It is always clean and well-maintained, usually not crowded (though I typically went off-peak hours, so YMMV), and has most of the machines and equipment you’d want. Being open 24/7 365 is a huge plus. The end of my experience with SPF wasn’t as pleasant (I wasn’t receiving emails for whatever reason, so I didn’t know monthly dues were going up until I was charged, and I thought they had ignored my request to cancel). However, the Southport Fitness team was super nice and patient helping me get figure out what had happened. They were also just lovely in all other interactions I had. The biggest reason I am giving this gym 4 stars vs. 5 is I don’t believe it’s good value for money. I know Southport is an expensive area, but $70 a month for a quite small gym with essentially no amenities — the lockers rooms are very very small with no toiletry products or towel service, there are very few group fitness classes, etc. — starts to feel a bit over the top. That’s the main reason why I am taking my business down the road to Fitness 19, another bare-bones type of gym that is over $40 cheaper each month.
